Originally from Edinburgh, Ioanna is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin. Now resident in Dublin, she is a founder-member of Greenlight Productions, who produced her first play, DESCRIBE JOE, which premiered in February 2000. DESCRIBE JOE also won an O.Z. Whitehead award in 2000. Her second play, WHY I HATE THE CIRCUS, was co-produced by Greenlight Productions and the Civic Theatre, Tallaght, in February 2001. During 2000/2001 Ioanna was a participant in the SEEDS project, a joint initiative between Rough Magic Theatre Company and the Dublin Fringe Festival, during which WORDS OF ADVICE FOR YOUNG PEOPLE was workshopped and developed under the mentorship of Philip Howard of the Traverse Theatre. Her fourth play, NIGHTSHIFT, was commissioned by the Gaiety School of Acting in 2004. Ioanna is currently under commission to the Abbey Theatre for whom she has written 6 CONVERSATIONS ABOUT LOVE, the Calipo Theatre Company and the Traverse Theatre, for whom she has written 3F2.
