ROBERT HOLMAN
Playwright
Robert was born in 1952 in Guisborough, North Yorkshire. His father was a farm manager, and his mother was head teacher of an infant school. Robert was encouraged to take his writing seriously by an English teacher when he was sixth form, and came to London in 1971 with that intention, although at first he worked on a bookstall on Paddington Station. In 1974 Robert received an Arts Council bursary which enabled him to write full time. Robert has been Resident Dramatist at the Royal National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company.
