Matt Haydock began his writing career as a development producer in factual entertainment before jacking in a proper job in order to pursue various personal projects and a career in comedy. After a brief period self producing short films and performing live (including a stint as resident satirical poet on BBC 5 Live) Haydock eventually turned his attention to writing. In 2011 he created the character of Gus The Fox which amassed a large Twitter following and lead to various freelance jobs at Shortlist and Time Out. The content on the Gus The Fox website has received millions of views over the years and spawned the Gus The Fox Scrapbook in 2013 which featured a foreword by Noel Fielding. In 2018 Matt began writing The Bad Day, an ambitious podcast blending dark storytelling with experimental music which made GQ’s list of top ten podcasts of that year.
“Here, Haydock, the comedian behind the popular Gus The Fox Twitter character, recounts the aftermath of a mysterious event, the eponymous day, from the kaleidoscopic perspective of a host of troubled souls.”
