Anna McCleery is an award-winning writer for television. Her teen detective series THE LADY GRACE MYSTERIES (BBC / ZDF / France TV) will air this year. She is currently adapting the global publishing sensation MURDER MOST UNLADYLIKE for Studio Canal. Her adult crime series THE MASTER, a thriller set in an Oxford college, is in development with Left Bank Pictures and she has multiple other projects in active development including her first graphic novel THE KINGDOM which will be serialised in The Phoenix magazine.
Previous to this, Anna created the ground-breaking series A KIND OF SPARK for CBBC and BYU (adapted from the beloved novel by Elle McNicoll) which won Royal Television Society and Broadcast awards for Best Children’s Programme.
Anna also created, wrote and executive produced the double Emmy winning series FREE REIN for Netflix, with Vicki Lutas. The show ran to three seasons with two film- length specials and has a passionate global following. For her work on FREE REIN, Anna also won Best Children’s Episode for “Bob” (S2 Ep7) at the Writer’s Guild Awards and Best New Series at the Kidscreen Awards.
She also developed the first fiction book series for the globally successful Rebel Girls brand. SECRET SOCIETY OF REBEL GIRLS is now in development with Lion Forge Entertainment with Anna acting as Lead Writer and Executive Producer. Anna has a degree in history from King’s College, Cambridge.
