Arun Blair-Mangat is a Jamaican and Indian writer and performer, born and raised in London, UK. His work combines rich storytelling, tongue-in-cheek comedy, thrilling drama, and a touch of sparkle. A graduate of the London School of Economics (yes, brains and flair), Arun wrote seven episodes of SPELLBOUND (Hulu) and is now working on the BBC’s first ever microdrama. On the feature side Arun has a psychological thriller in development with Ashley Schlaifer/Blue Hour Pictures and is writing a romantic drama feature for Good World. Other writing credits include SEASONED (Pilot commission for ITV), MADLY INVOLVED (BBC Arts) and development rooms for MURDER IN SANDBANKS (Viacom) and a QTIPOC-centered project for Home Team. Additionally, he created and staged the original musical QU4RTER for The Other Palace.
Arun is also a star of London’s West End, where he developed and originated the 'groundbreaking' (Attitude Magazine) role of May in Max Martin’s smash-hit musical & JULIET. He also dazzled in KINKY BOOTS (Original West End Cast), following in the fabulous footsteps of his mentor, Billy Porter. Other theatre credits include IN THE HEIGHTS (King’s Cross Theatre), LEAVE TO REMAIN (Lyric Hammersmith), and ANGELS IN AMERICA (National Theatre). On screen, Arun’s credits include GOAT GIRL (Cartoon Network/HBO Max), DRUNK HISTORY: BLACK STORIES (Comedy Central), PRESS (BBC), SPELLBOUND (Hulu), JOJO AND GRAN GRAN (CBBC), and THE ROYALS (E!).
