Bisha K. Ali is a talented screenwriter and stand-up comedian best known for her incisive yet personal political comedy. Bisha has been selected for the 2018 BAFTA Elevate programme and she is currently in Los Angeles working as a Staff Writer on FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL for Hulu. Her career as a professional writer began when a table read of her comedy pilot script BOOK CLUB was produced by Tiger Aspect and Sky, as part of their diversity initiative. The script was performed by Jessie Cave, Nish Kumar, Vivienne Acheampong and John Kearns and led to Tiger Aspect subsequently optioning the script, along with another original comedy project of Bisha’s. Bisha also spent a week in the writers’ room and provided additional material for SEX EDUCATION, a brand new comedy drama for Netflix (produced by Eleven Film) which is in production now and stars Gillian Anderson and Asa Butterfield. Eleven Film have subsequently optioned another original project of Bisha’s, and she has other original projects in development with Talkback and Rockerdale Studios. Bisha has also been in the writers' room for Deborah Frances-White’s Channel 4 topical entertainment pilot NEXT WEEK'S NEWS (produced by Merman), and TRUE BELIEVERS, a brand new comedy drama series for CBBC. As a performer, Bisha’s voice is frequently heard on the much lauded THE GUILTY FEMINIST podcast which has recorded over 100 episodes in venues such as The London Palladium and The Royal Albert Hall, and she also hosts the BBC Radio 4 podcast GROWNUPLAND, with Mae Martin and Ned Sedgwick. In 2012 she took part in the Royal Court Theatre’s Young Writers’ Programme, and she has had numerous non-fiction and fiction articles published online.
