Cherish Shirley is a screenwriter and producer. She is currently working with Sid Gentle as lead writer on the TV adaptation of TAKING UP SPACE: THE BLACK GIRL’S MANIFESTO FOR CHANGE which is in development with a UK broadcaster. Cherish recently took part in the writers' room for EVERYTHING I KNOW ABOUT LOVE, as well as BRIT(ISH). As a creator, Cherish’s original coming-of-age drama BUTTERFLIES is in development with Clerkenwell Films. She is also developing her original comedy series BAME with Merman, and has several projects in development with Sugar Films. Additional credits include setting up and joining the writers’ room for Netflix’s TURN UP CHARLIE produced by Idris Elba’s company, Green Door, and working as writer’s assistant and storyliner on the hit ITV sitcom VICIOUS starring Sir Ian McKellan and Sir Derek Jacobi. Cherish has worked in scripted development at Big Talk and Film4. She has a BA in English Language and Literature from Oxford University and a PG Certificate with Distinction in Creative Media Leadership.
