Clare Baines
Clare Baines is a blind, cane-using access coordinator whose work spans the full film lifecycle — from on-set access to festival and awards-season delivery. Since 2022, she has served as Disability Equality Lead at the British Film Institute, consulting across the BFI slate from shorts to features and helping shape access practice at every stage of production.
Clare brings both industry and creative insight, drawing on her own experience as a Roundhouse-funded filmmaker and writer to ground on-set access in the realities of filmmaking. She also led the creation of the BFI’s flagship disability film festival, We Crip Film Festival, championing disabled talent and stories on screen.
As an access coordinator, Clare builds environments defined by radical generosity, cross-disability solidarity and, above all, joy — ensuring productions are not only accessible but genuinely welcoming for both non-disabled and disabled cast and crew.
