David Allain

David Allain is an award-winning director and scriptwriter with work broadcast on BBC, ITV, Channel 4, and Sky. David recently directed three episodes of ITV’s prime-time crime drama ‘THE BAY’, broadcast in 2023. Before this, David was 2^nd Unit Director on ITV crime drama ‘THE LONG CALL’, mentored by Lee Haven Jones across the project. David was also mentored by BAFTA-winning director Lucy Forbes, shadowing her on set of ‘THE END OF THE F***ING WORLD’ and ‘IN MY SKIN’. David’s directing credits include a teaser for the BBC, a four-part factual entertainment series for Sky Arts, and two shorts broadcast on Channel 4 Random Acts.

As a writer, David is developing an original drama with HTM Productions with Jed Mercurio attached to Executive Produce. This commission came off the back of his knockout spec ‘RED ONE’ – best described as ‘LINE OF DUTY’ meets ‘TOP BOY’. He is also developing a sci-fi series and recently scripted a five-part true crime podcast for Global.

David was formerly Creative Director of Rankin Film Productions and has directed projects for brands and charities including O2, The Guardian, Beats by Dre, CNN, and CALM. David is an alumna of Directors UK Inspire and BFI Network x BAFTA Crew.
