Ella began her career as a professional actress before moving through development into directing. Her short films have played at festivals including Phoenix, Triforce, LOCO, LA Comedy Fest, Portland, Edmonton, Cambridge and Encounters.
Her latest short SARAH CHONG IS GOING TO KILL HERSELF was made through Creative England's 'Funny Girls' scheme, during which she was mentored by Paul King and Peter Straughan.
Ella's first feature, a romantic comedy about polyamory, is in development with Film 4. She has filmed a comedy taster for Channel 4 with Objective productions and has just finished shooting another with BBC Comedy. A sci-fi television series she has co-created with Stuart Tubby won the BAFTA Rocliffe New Writing Award and is in the process of being optioned.
Ella took part in this year's Berlinale Talents, where she was one of ten people selected for the Short Film project lab. She is also about to take part in the BFI Network x BAFTA Crew 2018 programme.
Alongside her directing, Ella is also a freelance script editor. She is currently script editing a new 8-part series by David Farr for Amazon. Ella has a double first in History from Cambridge University .
