Evan is a Canadian-British screenwriter and playwright who lives in London, UK. Evan’s television script Stamford Hill was recently named on the Brit List. He has written for television across a range of genres: a stand-alone gay rom-com episode of Soulmates (AMC/Amazon) starring Bill Skarsgård and Nathan Stewart-Jarrett; the historical book adaptation of The Tattooist of Auschwitz starring Harvey Keitel and Melanie Lynskey (for which Evan was also an Associate Producer), and ITV’s The Bay. He is currently writing two episodes of a new thriller for Virgin/C4 which films in Autumn 2025. He also has a range of original projects in development with various broadcasters, and he is working with companies including: 60Forty, Kudos, Hera, Tall Story, FilmNation, Blueprint, Urban Myth, STV, and Shaftesbury. His debut film script is in development with the BFI.
As a playwright, Evan’s debut Mother of Him won the inaugural RBC National Playwriting Award at the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto, the King’s Cross Award in the UK, and the Samuel French Canadian Play Award in the USA. The play went on to be produced internationally and was adapted for BBC Radio. It was revived at the Park Theatre, London, and the Korean version will open in 2025 at the National Theatre Company of Korea. His new play Lifers for Synergy Theatre will open at Southwark Playhouse in Autumn 2025. Evan is also under commission to the Hampstead Theatre and the National Theatre.
His other plays include Girls Like That; Orange Polar Bear; Keepy Uppy, Consensual, Pronoun WiLd!, Scarberia, Holloway Jones, Banana Boys, Jekyll& Hyde, and Peter Pan. Awards include: Jugend Theatre Preis Baden-Wurttemberg (Germany), Scenic Youth prize (France), Brian Way Award, Royal Society of Literature’s Literature Matters Award and the Writers’ Guild Award for Best Play for Young Audiences (all UK). His plays have been translated into more than a dozen languages.
