Joel Tan is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter based between London/Singapore. Described as one of the most exciting Singaporean playwrights of his generation, his plays have received acclaim for their incisive and witty interrogation of his home city’s politics and society. Theatre in the UK includes SCENES FROM A REPATRIATION which had rave reviews and a sold out run at the Royal Court Upstairs in Spring 2025, and NO PARTICULAR ORDER, which was shortlisted for Theatre 503's 2018 Playwriting Award and produced there in 2022. He is under commission to Headlong to adapt HEART OF DARKNESS. In Singapore, recent work includes G*D IS A WOMAN and a new adaptation of TARTUFFE, both with Wild Rice, where Joel is Artist in Residence.
