Jonathan Houlston

Jonathan Houlston is a Welsh writer and actor from Swansea.. Jonathan is interested in how expectations and preconceptions of masculinity shape his characters, consciously or otherwise. His debut play Physical Education explores these ideas through the lens of working-class Welsh life. It premiered at the Swansea Grand this summer to critical acclaim attracting national interest courtesy of five-star reviews in The Guardian and The Stage. His writing asks difficult questions without offering simple answers; his characters are contradictory – problematic, vulnerable, loveable and funny. Jonathan trained as an actor at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
