Julia is a writer/director and winner of a New Talent Award at the BFI Future Film Festival 2017. Her first short film, EMMA CHANGE THE LOCKS, starring Olivia Williams, premiered at Raindance Film Festival in 2015. She subsequently directed KID GLOVES, starring Susan Wokoma and Joanna Brookes (winner of Best Short Film at both ECFF and The London Film Awards 2016) and 23 RED, screened at the BFI London Film Festival in 2018. Julia also co-wrote YOUR MOTHER AND I, a short film based on a story by Dave Eggers, directed by Anna Maguire and starring Don McKellar, which screened at the Toronto International Film Festival and in competition at BFI London Film Festival in 2016, won Best British Short at the London Short Film Festival, and was nominated for Best British Short at the London Critics' Circle Awards. In 2018 Julia was one of five directors selected to take part in the prestigious CFC Filmmakers’ Lab in Toronto. Julia is now working on her first feature project, an adaptation of Isabel Greenberg’s graphic novel THE ONE HUNDRED NIGHTS OF HERO, which Julia Nottingham (‘Skate Kitchen’, ‘Kingdom of Us’) will produce.
