Lauren Mooney

Lauren Mooney is a writer from the East Midlands, now based in London. Since 2015, she has co-run award-winning Kandinsky Theatre Company with director James Yeatman. Her credits as a writer and dramaturg for Kandinsky include shows at the Royal Exchange Manchester, New Diorama London, Schaubuhne Berlin and Schauspielhaus Wien; most recently, More Life ran at the Royal Court Theatre from 6 Feb to 8 March 2025.
Beyond Kandinsky, she has worked extensively as a dramaturg, most recently on the award-winning My Mother’s Funeral: The Show for Paines Plough, which transferred to SoHo Playhouse New York and the Yard Theatre London in 2025. She also holds extensive audio drama credits as a script editor and co-writer of audio drama with her husband, playwright Stewart Pringle.
Before going freelance in 2018, Lauren worked for Clean Break Theatre Company, where she produced all the company’s work in prisons and co-edited their monologue collection Rebel Voices (Methuen, 2019). She is a graduate of the Royal Court Writers Group and the University of East Anglia’s Creative Writing (Prose) MA, where she held the David Higham Scholarship.
Her prose fiction is represented by Veronique Baxter at David Higham Associates. Her debut novel, Service, will be published by Bonnier in 2026.
