Lauren Mooney

Lauren Mooney is a writer from the midlands, now based in East Sussex. Since 2015, she has co-run award-winning Kandinsky Theatre Company with director James Yeatman. Her credits as a writer and dramaturg for Kandinsky include shows at the Royal Exchange Manchester, New Diorama London, Schaubuhne Berlin and Schauspielhaus Wien; most recently, More Life enjoyed a sell-out at the Royal Court Theatre in 2025.

Beyond Kandinsky, she has worked extensively as a dramaturg, with credits including Fringe First-winning MY MOTHER’S FUNERAL: THE SHOW for Paines Plough (UK tour, Yard Theatre, SoHo Playhouse New York) and Top Gs Like Me (Royal & Derngate Northampton). She also holds extensive audio drama credits as a script editor and co-writer of Big Finish’s TORCHWOOD and DOCTOR WHO audio drama series with playwright Stewart Pringle.
Before going freelance in 2018, Lauren worked for Clean Break Theatre

Company, where she produced all the company’s work in prisons and co-edited their monologue collection REBEL VOICES (Methuen, 2019). She is a graduate of the Royal Court Writers Group and the University of East Anglia’s Creative Writing (Prose) MA, where she held the David Higham Scholarship.

Lauren’s debut novel, SERVICE, will be published by Bonnier in June 2026.
