Monica Heisey is a writer and comedian from Toronto, who now lives full time in London. She has written for television shows including Schitt's Creek (CBC/Netflix), Baroness von Sketch Show (CBC/IFC), Workin’ Moms (CBC/Netflix), Cavendish (CBC), and Gary and his Demons (Comedy Central).

Monica is currently adapting Olivia Potts’ novel A HALF BAKED IDEA for Baby Cow; has two original series in development with Rough Cut; and an original series entitled DRAMA co-written with Nathan Foad under option with Complete Fiction. Monica is also developing original projects with comedian Olga Koch for Objective Media, and with Laura Whitmore for Merman.

On the film side, Monica’s short REST STOP, co-written and directed by filmmaker Kate Herron for Sky Comedy, won the Grand Prize for Best Comedy and was nominated for the Oscar-qualifying Prize of Best Short at the Flickers: Rhode Island Film Festival.

Her writing has been published in the New Yorker, the New York Times, the Guardian, VICE, and many other print and online publications. She's performed improv, sketch, and stand up at venues all over Canada, the US, and the United Kingdom. She has won three Canadian Screen Awards for sketch comedy writing and was previously an Editor at Large at VICE. Her first book, a humour collection called I Can't Believe It's Not Better, was praised by Rob Delaney and Lena Dunham, and named a CBC, National Post and Globe and Mail "Best Book of the Year."
