Nia DaCosta is a New York based filmmaker, training at NYU and CSSD in London.
Her debut feature LITTLE WOODS, a modern Western set in a struggling North Dakota oil boom town, stars Lily James and Tessa Thompson was developed through The Sundance Institute, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival 2018 and won The Nora Ephron Award for excellence in storytelling by a woman writer and or director embodying the spirit and boldness of the late filmmaker. It will open worldwide in 2019.
Nia was part of the writers room for Bad Wolf and HBO TV series INDUSTRY. She is writing and will direct a radical contemporary musical retelling of Jane Austen’s PERSUASION for BBC Films. She is writing an original sci-fi feature script CANARY which she is attached to direct for producer Lia Buman's (INSIDIOUS franchise.)
Nia will direct TOP BOY 2 for Netflix and Cowboy Films.
