Ruth Sewell


Ruth has written and directed a diverse range of shorts, documentaries and promos, and is developing a slate of ongoing projects for film and TV. She wrote, directed and edited the short comedy COUNTRYPHILE starring Cara Horgan and Toby Williams, which won the Special Jury Prize for Writing at the NBFF 2014 and the WFTV Lifetime Shorts Award 2016. ​Ruth's documentary for the Guardian, FROM THE BRONX TO YALE: THE POWER OF HIGH SCHOOL SPEECH, was awarded a Staff Pick on Vimeo and premiered at Sheffield DocFest in 2016 and she’s just wrapped on the feature length version which Ruth self-shot in New York and Florida. She’s developing the concept into a scripted TV drama. In 2016 she wrote her debut feature CHARM OFFENSIVE with the assistance of the Screen Arts International and the BFI.
