Sam Woof

Sam Woof is a theatre-maker based in London. They are the artistic director of the award-winning GOYA Theatre Company and were recently named one of The Stage’s Fringe Five for their work at the 2023 Edinburgh Festival. As writer/director, credits include: Four Felons and a Funeral (The Other Palace); Actually, Love (Omnibus Theatre); Sex with Friends and Other Tiny Catastrophes (North Wall Arts Centre); Don’t Shoot the Albatross (Vaults Festival). Assistant director credits include Enron (Oxford Playhouse); The Swell (Orange Tree Theatre); Something in the Air (Jermyn Street Theatre); Top Hat (The Mill at Sonning); The Circle (Theatre Royal Bath Tour). Sam was the resident assistant director at the Orange Tree in 2023 and has an MFA in Theatre Directing from Birkbeck College London. Sam focuses on making queer music theatre, and is currently developing a musical retelling of Macbeth set in a Michelin star kitchen, a queer take on Alice in Wonderland and a new opera based on The Bacchae.
