Tom Basden is a three-time BAFTA nominated writer, best known as the co-creator and co-writer (alongside Sam Leifer) of ITV2’s flagship comedy series PLEBS. PLEBS ran for five series, earning Tom and Sam multiple BAFTA nominations as well as RTS and Broadcast Awards, and concluded with its RTS-nominated feature length special PLEBS: SOLDIERS OF ROME in 2022. Tom and Sam are now developing a new show together for ITV1.

Tom’s solo work includes his hit BBC comedy series HERE WE GO, starring Katherine Parkinson, Jim Howick and Alison Steadman alongside Tom himself. The series received critical acclaim and two further series have since been recommissioned.

Tom is also a talented playwright whose adaptation of Dario Fo's ACCIDENTAL DEATH OF AN ANARCHIST transferred to the Lyric earlier this year after its glowingly reviewed initial run at The Crucible in Sheffield. Tom has written plays for the National Theatre, the Arts Theatre and The Gate, and has taken both plays and solo comedy shows to the Edinburgh, Melbourne and Sydney Festivals, where he is a previous recipient of both a Fringe First and an Edinburgh Comedy Award.

Tom's further writing credits include his original comedy drama series GAP YEAR (which he created, executive produced and showran for E4 & Hulu) as well as episodes of beloved sitcoms including PEEP SHOW, FRESH MEAT and THE WRONG MANS.
