Will Close and Joe Von Malachowski met while studying drama in Manchester, and performed together at their first Edinburgh Fringe, aged 19. Mercifully little is remembered about that initial collaboration, but it laid the groundwork for their current writing partnership, most recently on MEDIOCRE WHITE MALE, a darkly funny look at toxic male fragility and what happens when ‘woke culture’ leaves you behind, performed to acclaim at the Assembly Rooms in 2021 before touring and transferring to the Park Theatre in 2022.

Will is a member of critically acclaimed theatre company 1927, and won a Dave Comedy Award in 2013. His work has been performed at Soho Theatre, Adelaide Fringe and on BBC Radio 4. Alongside his work with Joe, he is developing a new show for Soho Theatre for 2023.

Joe is a playwright and lyricist. After graduating from the MA writing programme at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, his work has been performed extensively at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival as well as at the Bush Theatre, Southwark Playhouse, and Theatre Royal Stratford East.

Will and Joe are currently developing MEDIOCRE WHITE MALE for screen, and working on a new stage project.
